Israel June 2013: Hyundai i35 leads, podium 100% Korean

The Israeli new car market is down 2% year-on-year in June to 17,914 registrations, however the year-to-date total is still in positive at 111,859 units, up 1.3% on 2012. The models ranking continues to vary widely from one month to another: in June the Hyundai i35 (aka Elantra) takes the lead for the 2nd time in the last 3 months, but this time it does so frankly, with 832 sales and 4.6% share which is 100 above any other model in the market. The Ford Focus is down 7 spots to a paltry 9th place but keeps its 2013 year-to-date pole position by far at 5,899 units and 5.3%.
Kia Picanto
Another Korean model to shine this month is the Kia Picanto, up one further spot on May to land in 2nd place with 731 sales and 4.1% share, and now #3 year-to-date. In fact this month and for the first time in 2013, the Israeli podium is 100% Korean with the Hyundai i30 down 2 ranks to #3 at 662 units and 3.7%. Another interesting fact: in the 2013 year-to-date ranking, the Ford Focus is the only non-Korean model inside the Top 5: the Hyundai i30 is #2, followed by the Kia Picanto, Hyundai i35 and Hyundai i20… Over the first half of 2013, Hyundai and Kia are the two best-selling brands in Israel, together holding 25.7% of the market.
Skoda Rapid
Within this month’s Top 10, notice also the Nissan Micra up 2 spots to an outstanding 4th place, the Renault Fluence remaining extremely solid at #5, the Mazda2 strong again at #7 vs. #14 year-to-date and the Kia Forte up 9 ranks to #8 thanks to the new generation. Further down, the Skoda Rapid is up 8 spots to an excellent 12th position and is now the brand’s best-seller in Israel, the Mitsubishi Outlander is up 6 to #13, the Mitsubishi Space Star lands directly at #23 with 210 sales and 1.2% for its first month in market, the Fiat 500 is up 29 to #28, the Subaru Impreza up 118 to #38 and the MG350 up 73 to #71.
