Up until today the most recent official information I had about car sales in Nepal dated back to 2002, not anymore thanks to Andrea. We learn that Hyundai overtook Maruti to become the best-selling manufacturer in the country in 2009 with a massive 42% market share. The Santro was the best-seller for the brand then in spite of its 10 years of age, and therefore most probably the #1 car overall in Nepal.

Hyundai-Santro-Eon-i10-Nepal-2012The Santro, Eon and i10 have cemented Hyundai’s domination in Nepal.

It’s hard to tell whether it would still be the case in 2013 with the arrival of the Eon which could have encroached on Santro sales. If you have more information about the Nepalese new car market please make sure to get in touch by either commenting on here or filling the ‘Contact’ form on top of the page.
