Egyptian new car sales start the year up a very healthy 43% year-on-year in January to 17,463 registrations. The Hyundai Verna reclaims the pole position with 1,827 sales and 10.5% and is followed by 3 Chevrolets this month: the TFR Single Cab (aka Isuzu D-Max) is #2 at 1,445 units and 8.3%, the Lanos is #3 with 930 sales and 5.3% and the Aveo is #4 at 827 units and 4.7%.
Excellent showing of the Toyota Hilux, up 13 spots on December to #5 with 634 sales and 1.6%, as well as of the Golden Dragon Haice up to a fantastic 7th spot at 566 units and a best-ever 3.2% share, the King Long XMQ6500E up to #9, Opel Astra up to #12 and Suzuki Maruti M800 up 23 ranks to #13. Notice also the Geely Emgrand EC7 breaking into the Top 20 for its third month of sales in the country at #19 with 268 sales and 1.5%, the Suzuki Alto back up to #23, the Fiat Grande Punto up 98 spots on December to #35 and the Brilliance Cross up 52 to #43.
But the big news in Egypt this month is the high number of all-new models making their first appearance in the ranking, led by the all-new Kia Cerato landing directly at #41 with 73 units. The JAC J2 is #72, the Peugeot 208 #73, JAC J6 #84, Haima1 #94, Haima2 #97 and Haima3 #109.
