Egypt November 2012: Chevrolet TFR and Kia Rio shine

The Egyptian new car market is up a very robust 35% year-on-year in November to 18,590 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 178,537 units, up 12% on 2011 and already above the Full Year 2011 figure of 176,157 sales. In November the Chevrolet TFR Pick-up, nicknamed ‘El Dabbabah’ (The Tank) in the country, takes the lead of the Egyptian models ranking for the first time since last June and only the third time so far this year with February with 1,780 sales and 9.6% share. It is however still #2 year-to-date at 17,008 units and 9.5% vs. 19,788 and 11.1% for the Hyundai Verna, down to #2 and 9.2% this month.

Chevrolet “El Dabbabah” TFR

The Chevrolet Lanos is very solid at #3 with 1,307 sales and 7% and even passes the Hyundai Elantra (back to #4 in November after two months off) to now rank #3 also year-to-date. Notice the excellent performances in the Top 10 of the Kia Cerato up 4 spots to #7 and 3.7%, the Kia Rio up 12 to #8 and 3.5% and the Kia Carens also up 12 to #9.

Geely Emgrand 7

Further down, the Golden Dragon Haise is back up 23 ranks to #12, the Renault Fluence is up 19 to #34, Suzuki Maruti M800 up 11 to #17, Opel Astra NB up a massive 51 spots to #21, Renault Duster up 21 to #25, Brilliance V5 still strong at #32 and the Geely Emgrand 7 lands directly at #41 with 54 sales for its first month in market.
