The Filipino new car market is up 10% year-on-year in September to 14,743 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 133,344 units, up 8% on 2011. The Toyota Vios keeps the lead with 1,250 sales and 8.5%, the Mitsubishi Montero Sport has another outstanding month at #2 with 1,078 units and 7.3%, passing the Toyota Innova, down to #3 at 1,021 sales and 6.9% but still #2 year-to-date at 9,967 units and 7.5%.
Below the Toyota Fortuner at #4 and 5%, the Hyundai Accent is up 6 spots on August to #5 with 3.4% share thanks to 502 sales. Other great performers this month in the Philippines include the Honda CR-V up 9 ranks to #15, the Hyundai Eon at #18, the Ford Ranger at #25 vs. #48 year-to-date and the Ford Explorer up 42 to #28. Two models break into the Filipino Top 50 for their very first month of sales in the country: the Honda Pilot lands at #32 with 79 units and the Ford Mustang is #44 at 40.
