Brazilian car sales continue to slip down, this time by 10% year-on-year to 244,853 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 1,017,506 units, down 3% on 2011. If in March the Fiat Uno managed to beat the VW Gol with its largest margin ever, this month the Gol takes it revenge and is back in pole position with 19,684 sales and 8% share, almost 3,500 units or 1.4 percentage points above the Uno, its largest advantage since January 2011. The new gen Fiat Palio rounds up the podium but seems to have plateau’ed already at around 4.5% share…

Citroen C3 Picasso

The rest of the ranking is very stable compared to the mid-month update, with the new gen Fiat Siena and Chevrolet S10 both confirming they are on the up, respectively #12 with 5,110 sales and #17 at 3,393 units. There is more movement further down: the Peugeot 308 is up 13 spots to #71, the Citroen C3 Picasso is up 20 to #73 and the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback already knocks on the Top 100’s door at #101 for its first full month of sales in the country. Notice also the Chery QQ and JAC J3’s fight for the ‘best-selling Chinese model’ title at #59 and #60 respectively and the Kia Optima up to #130.
