In line with the Passenger Car market, Kei car sales in Japan are up 60% year-on-year in March to 253,929 units. The Daihatsu Mira reaches what has to be its best monthly figure ever at 29,721 units, up a huge 257% on March 2011. It’s an opportunity to point out that Mira sales include 4 versions: the Mira, Mira Custom, Mira e-S and Mira Cocoa.
The #2 could also be at its highest ever: the Suzuki Wagon R sells 27,428 units, up 58% year-on-year while the Daihatsu Tanto rounds up the podium with 21,569 sales, up 59%.
The Daihatsu Move progresses much slower than the market at +16% and 19,411 units and the Honda NBOX continues to step up: +25% on February to 19,213 sales, however this means it is down 2 spots to a still outstanding 5th place.
Other great performers in the Top 10 include the Suzuki Alto at #6 and +56% and the Suzuki Palette at #9 and +104%. Further down, notice the Toyota Pixis Space stuck in 14th position but with 3,429 sales it reaches its best monthly result since its launch last September.
