Sweden May 2011: VW Passat threatens Volvo V70

The Swedes bought 30,853 new cars in May, an impressive 23% increase year-on-year. The year-to-date figure stands at 129,557 units, up 18%. The Volvo V70 stays on top at 2,110 sales and 6.8%, but the VW Passat, boosted by the new generation, is getting closer this month with 1,837 sales and 6%…

The VW Golf is stable in 3rd place, just like the Volvo V60 at #4, it seems to have found its cruising level at around 3.5% share of the Swedish market. The smaller Volvo V50 is weak this month at #6 and 2.1%, below a Kia Cee’d back to its 2010 self with 792 sales and 2.6%.

The Fiat Ducato continues to deliver incredibly high figures, #10 this month with 1.8%, the Ford Focus is up 14 spots at #11 and the Peugeot 508 breaks into the Top 40 at #34 with 245 sales and 0.8%.
