France 1960: Renault Dauphine reigns

In 1960, new vehicle registrations of locally-produced models in France progress by 11.1% to 756,025 units. Citroen (+6.8%) repeats at #1 with 30.8% of the market, with Renault (+14.5%) catching up to 28.7% vs. 27.8% the year prior. Simca (+15.6%) remains in third place, widening the gap with Peugeot (+6.9%) at 18.1% share vs. 16%. These are the main manufacturers in France as the 5th ranked Panhard (+21.7%) only holds 3.3% of the market.

Citroen 2CV

Model-wise, the Renault Dauphine (+5.9%) continues its reign, dropping one percentage point of market share to 19.2%. The Citroen 2CV (+2.3%) holds 16.1% of French sales vs. 17.5% last year. The Citroen ID-DS 19 (+27.2%) climbs back up two spots on 1959 to land on the third step of the podium, while the Simca Aronde (-47.7%) ranks 4th above its newly launched twin the Simca Etoile.
